Hi everyone,

My partner and I have smoked together almost DAILY for the past 5 years. It got to a point where we would take it with us everywhere we went with the exception of work. We were addicted. So many reasons why we stopped but we are now on day 84 and things are much different. This is the longest we have gone without it and are now trying to live life without it. It is hard, don't let anyone fool you- let's not forget that marijuana is not the same as it used to be- its more potent and everyone smokes different stuff. You really have to WANT to quit and have valid reasons why to quit and stick to it. So far, I am having problems "finding myself" again. I really have no friends and very limited family, but I do have 3 cats- who are great companions. Keep yourself busy for sure! That is the honest to God truth- be true to yourself and you might surprise yourself! Now, I just need to find things I used to enjoy prior to weed taking over my life 5 years ago. I am done with it. It was a point in time and the negatives really do outweigh the positive euphoria, which that was even gone after awhile...

I have smoked over 30 years. It has been my loyal friend that long. It gives me energy & gets rid of my feeling of being lonely. I haven't slept very restful for years but that doesn't really bother me, guess I just got used to it. I'm only on my second day. I feel so lazy but not sleepy. I've noticed food doesn't have much taste either. I really enjoyed smoking it & only want to quit for health reasons for I have none yet but feel it's only a matter of time. After all, smoking is not a healthy habit. I do a cardio workout 5 days a week & lift weights 4 days a week & usually smoked 7. The hardest part for me right now is getting it off my mind. The craving for it is always there. When will this end??

withdrawal symptoms seem to be far worse for me if im bored, if i am staying busy it tends to keep my mind off it... some people r alot more busy than others so no one should be criticized on their withdrawals... marijuana withdrawal can make some people (like me) very depressed and have bad anxiety. this just makes some people sink very low and not care about their self or their life as much which can cause them to use marijuana again or anything they can get to make them feel better. this starts a circle of events (if u hav been there u kno wat im talkin about). for me its like i need weed to operate. ( i know i have a problem with it) its very hard to get past the first few days of withdrawals but after about 3 days it starts to ease off and become easier not to smoke (dont get me wrong its never easy 4 a stoner not to get stoned) but if u r dedicated and have the will and its something u want, u can quit. u have to really want to tho, its about dedication, and a strong will to do something for urslf

I feel a little better after reading everyone's experiences, as I too am trying to quit (Day 5). I decided to join an outpatient program that does wonders for keeping me on track, but it takes an emense amount of willpower to keep from getting in my car and driving to where a joint or bong hit is waiting for me. Each day is extremely difficult. I just wanted to say that groups are very helpfull, because if nothing else I see everyone else struggling and staying clean and it gives me renewed strength. I am still sceptical of the positives, but I am doing it anyway!!! We are all united in our efforts, and it's great to know I am not alone. Thanks to all
